Post Graduate Departments of Various Subjects and Researh Studies

department of english and research studies

The Postgraduate Department of English & Research Studies established in (U.G.-1957, P.G.-1972) is a major postgraduate and undergraduate department of the college. Many prominent scholars like Prof. A.N. Dwivedi (Retd Professor, Allahabad University), Prof. P.K. Pandey (BHU), Prof. Y.R. Tripathi (Gorakhpur University), Mr. C.S. Srivastava, Mr. A.H. Beg, Mr. D.P. Srivastava, Mr. K.N. Shukla, Dr. Shakti Kumar Pandey, Dr. J.N. Singh and others have been associated with this department. Besides teaching and guiding nearly half a dozen of research thesis in the past 20 years, many dissertation and prestigious articles has been published by the members of the department.

When I assumed the responsibilities of the department in the 1st September 2002 our strength had been reduced almost by half. With the premature demise of Mr. D.P. Srivastava in May-1993, transfer of Dr. S.K. Pandey in July-2000 and superannuation of Mr. A. H. Beg in August-2002, the department was faced with an acute crisis of faculty.
Dr. G. S. Dwivedi (Head)

The Hon'ble principal Dr. Sudhakar Upadhyay realized our situation and made two part time appointments in English department and thus facilitated us in teaching multi optional/ multi lingual papers taught at M.A. level. We expect to recruit faculty for remaining vacant positions (three Assistant Professors) within next few years.

Since the principal Dr. Sudhakar Upadhya, a man of versatile genius and multifaceted personality has planned to meet the challenges of the Centennial decade (2010 to 2020) on a vast scale; the department of English is conscious of its role and visualizes a radical orientation of English studies in the fast changing global scenario. I am really fortunate to head a team of dedicated colleagues Mr. R. C. Pandey, Mr. K. M. Dubey who are determined to uphold and enhance the prestige of the department.

Faculty of Education (B. Ed.)
With a purpose to provide students the degree of B. Ed., the college started the faculty of education (B.Ed) in the session 1964-65. The campus of this department is slightly distant by half km from the main campus of the college and runs in a stony building donated by Late Shri Bhairo Prasad Jaiswal in Ganeshganj. Many eminent educationist and learned teachers have been associated with this disciplined faculty.

I took over the charge of, Head department of B. Ed. in the April 2003, when most of the senior members of the department were either retired or on the verge of superannuation. The most challenging thing for me was to maintain the dignity and the sanctity of the department which I inherited from my senior colleagues. Every year through counseling meritorious students after passing entrance examination, conducted by state university, turn up for admission and avail different kind of teaching methods, participate in extra curriculum activities i.e. debates, seminars, undergo scout-guide training program and enjoy frequent excursion and short tour arranged by the department time to time. Faculty of education is quite conscious of various recent methods of teaching and provides students audio-visual aids, computer skill training, and LCD projector facilities. I express my deep sense of gratitude, to my colleagues Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Dr. Dhananjay Rai, Dr. Kernail Singh, Dr. D. S. Pathak, Dr. M. D. Tripathi, and Dr. Reeta Mishra, who by their teaching skill and sincere devotion have maintained the decorum of the department set by the past.
